Favorite Angsty Romances:
- Will and Tessa and Jem from The Infernal Devices
I am definitely a Will and Tessa fan. They have enough angst between themselves. But add Jem to the mix and my heart doesn’t even know how to respond. Love. Hate. Longing. Need. Right. Wrong. and everything in between.
- Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are one of the most iconic angsty couples. And I love them more for it. What better story is there that brings two people who absolutely hate each other together enough for them to fall in love?
- Cathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights
Oh Cathy. How could you be so cruel? How could you leave poor Heathcliff to be haunted all his days? This is another iconic couple with longing, and hatred through out the whole thing.
- Khalid and Shahrzad from The Wrath and the Dawn
I didn’t love this book but Khalid and Shahrzad share a healthy amount of angst between themselves. Isn’t that the point of the whole book? He has to kill her, she, naturally, doesn’t want to die. And yet, they start falling in love.
- Kestrel and Arin from The Winner’s Curse
Kestrel buys Arin as a slave. Arin uses her for information to start a revolution. Kestrel and Arin fall in love. They finally kiss right as he executes his plans. Clearly there’s some angst here.
