I’m so sad I missed Teaser Tuesday yesterday. Maybe I’ll post one anyway. But today’s WIP Wednesday comes from Senior Year Sonata
Someone I Admired:
Charlotte turned back to Luke abruptly. “I’m not dating ‘poor Sammy’, but you are dating Miss Emily.” Her voice rose an octave and became squeaky when she said Miss Emily. “What’s it like to have your own Barbie to play with?”
Charlotte looked at him with a bit of smugness.
“At least I have someone to make-out with.” He smirked back at her.
“Of course you do.” She rolled her eyes. “You are the Quarterback of the football team. You are the golden boy on campus. You always have someone to make-out with. And when you’re finished with one there is a whole squad of cheerleaders standing in line to be next. It’s, like, in the rules. No one other than a cheerleader can stand next to the star football player. You are the stereotype of all high school jocks.”
“That’s not true. I would like Emily even if she wasn’t a cheerleader.”
“Really?” Her eyebrows rose and she looked at him as if daring him to prove her wrong. “Come on Luke. You haven’t dated anyone other than a cheerleader since you started ninth grade. You care only for football and your current Barbie doll. You are banking on the hope that you will get a full ride football scholarship so that your grades don’t really matter that much, and you do the minimum possible to scrape by in each class. Everything about you is stereotypical. Which is really unfortunate because you used to be someone I admired.”
