Hello! Earlier this year, I decided to be ready for #PitchWars in August, and hopefully land a mentor to help bring my book to the next (needed) level.
Before we get into my book and why you should pick me, here’s a little about me…
I just turned 31 and I don’t think I ever imagined I could be this old. I mean, I can remember my parents turning 30…forever ago. And now that’s me. I’ve been married for 11 years. I stay at home with my kiddos, and when school starts in a few weeks, I’ll only have one left at home during the day. Which is why I have a dog also. A toy poodle that has more energy than I’ve ever had…ever. But I love him to pieces.
I love to read I switch between reading and writing. I usually read 2-3 books at a time because I want to read everything. So I try, and end up only reading a few. I currently have a stack of 5 library books to read, and I know I won’t get through all of them before the due date, but I check them out anyway.
Oh, and I’m a big Disney fan. I love all things Cinderella. My 3yr old lady bug believes she’s a Disney princess, so we play dress up and sing all day long.
A little about my writing history…
I read a book in February of 2012 and fell so hard in love with the book. In fact, I have an annual tradition of re-reading the book and I love it each time. BUT this book also did more for me. It sparked the flame inside me that drives me to write stories. I closed the cover and said, “I need to write a book.”
I quickly wrote my first novel about a girl traipsing through England. I thought I was the best writer ever and totally knew what I was doing. So I passed it along to some friends who very kindly read it without laughing in my face. It was then I realized that writing is a bit harder and I really had no idea what I was doing.
Since then, I have attended writing conferences, joined writing groups, attended writing workshops, and most importantly, found my writing people. The people who cheer me on and help me write more prolifically.
I completed NaNoWriMo for the first time in 2016, completely writing Picking the Prom King. This is my 3rd full-length novel, and I LOVE IT! The idea came to me, I outlined the heck out of it, wrote it, and have been in love ever since.
PICKING THE PROM KING…
is a sweet YA contemporary romance. It’s perfect for fans of The Bachelorette, anything by Kasie West, and the Bloomsbury If Only… line of books. If you are a mentor (and have made it this far down my page) you probably have my query, but if you don’t or you are not a mentor and have stumbled across this page, you can read more about PICKING THE PROM KING here.
Why should you pick me as your mentee? Because I’m awesome. Obviously. Haha. On a more humble level, because I would LOVE your experience and feedback. I take writing seriously. I read about writing, I write about writing, and I talk about writing to everyone. When I’m not writing, I read books and try to analyze why it worked and what I loved about it.
I feel like my story is ready for that extra, well-experienced, touch that a mentor brings to the table. And I am ready for the knowledge and critiques you will share. I look forward to critiques because I know my writing is not perfect and I welcome suggestions to bring it closer to perfection.
I also look forward to the relationship we’ll share. Working as a mentor/mentee duo means allowing someone into the closed parts of your heart. The parts that you put on the page instead of say aloud. I feel like we’d become close friends. It’s inevitable.
Thanks for reading more about me. I look forward to the #PitchWars process, and meeting new writers and authors. Feel free to take a look around the rest of my site and learn more about me or CONTACT me if you have any questions.
