I attended the most wonderful writing conference last weekend and took a class from the fabulous Dr. Chris Crowe. He taught a new warm up for writing each day. Pick a topic and write a Word-Ku. Much like a Haiku, but 17 words instead. Set the timer for 3 minutes, then write.
The topic picked was Nature:
Rain swells and billows down
wrapping the world in liquid blankets, invigorating,
refreshing, renewing, creating new life.
Now take that 17 word Word-ku and turn it into a 17 syllable Haiku. 2 minutes for this round.
Rain swells and billows.
The world, a liquid blanket
creating new life.
What can you come up with in three minutes? Post your Word-ku or Haiku in the comments.
