When band geek Taryn Christensen is nominated to be the Bachelorette in a YouTube fundraiser show, she almost laughs in their face. Until she finds out that her high school marching band’s European tour is riding on the money raised from the show. Desperate not to be alone, she convinces her best friend, Brett, to become a contestant. He only agrees if she promises that he’ll become the Prom King in the end.
Charlie Bolton can’t stop thinking about Taryn, the girl he met at the drive-thru window. He puts aside his video games, debate team, and drums to become a contestant of a fundraiser show. When he discovers the girl they’re competing for turns out to be Taryn, he can’t believe his luck. Until he sees her flirting with Brett every time the cameras are near. In this viewer driven show, where people vote for their favorite contestant, this doesn’t bode well for Charlie.
Taryn and Charlie’s dates become more real and they can’t hide their chemistry from each other. Too bad the viewers love Brett. When Brett and Charlie become the final two contestants, Taryn is left with the heartrending decision to either keep her promise and choose Brett, or follow her heart and pick Charlie.
