I have three very important fathers in my life and I wanted to pay tribute to each. First is my wonderful dad. He is one of the most stalwart men I know. Calm, collected, wise, loving, caring, and so many more adjectives. In my almost 31 years of life, I haven’t met a better example of a father.
Next is my Father in Law. I got lucky in that department. He has been a great support to KC and me. He loves to see us grow, make hard choices, and fun choices that bring us closer together. He raised an amazing son and I am forever grateful for the example of a father he has been to my family.
Lastly, and most importantly, is the father to my most prized possessions, my children. We have been through a lot in 11 years and this last year we have grown closer than ever before. We have made decisions to change jobs, change schools, change houses, change sports, change music teachers, and change parenting styles. But we made them together. We have learned from each other, supported each other, and respected each other. I love him more than anything.
Year one Year 11
A Daddy is a daughter’s Prince Charming,
the man she wants to marry.
As she grows, a Daddy becomes
the man she runs to when she’s scared,
when she wants to dance,
when she’s proud.
A Daddy is the man from whom she learns
the kind of man she wants to love forever.
That’s when a Daddy
Becomes a Dad.
A daughter is a daddy’s princess,
the second (behind her mother) to own his heart,
the girl he spoils, and loves, and cherishes,
because of her preciousness.
As she grows, a daughter becomes
someone a Daddy wants to protect.
No little boy will be good enough
for the girl who makes his heart swell.
A daughter is a Daddy’s little girl
even when she’s old.
And somewhere along the line this Daddy
Becomes a Dad.
One time, when KC and I were disagreeing about how to spend our time for the day, he said, “since I’ll be gone, why don’t you go shopping, and then it’ll be worth your while.” In response, I said, “worth my while is time spent with you.”
So, for father’s day, I made a Worth my while printable that I framed and gave to him. I made a small version for him to take to work (because I know he totally wants to do that, haha) and I made a cute, artsy one for the house. I thought I’d share it with anyone who would like to download it and print it for your use.
