I finally finished Winter by Marissa Meyer! And it was AWESOME! This is the 4th book in the Lunar Chronicles series. She based each book off a fairytale retelling (Cinder= Cinderella… never would have guessed, would ya). Winter is the long-winded (Hardback= 824 pages) conclusion to the Sci-Fi/ Fantasy journey of Cinder, Scarlet, Cress and Winter.
To be honest, when I first read Cinder, I wasn’t all that thrilled. I knew the story well enough to know how it would end and all the way until the last page I thought it was a boring retelling. Besides, telling people that I was reading a Cinderella retelling about a cyborg girl living in future China, and people who live on the moon, was not really something I was dying to do.
Then the last page and… BAM! It became an epic journey I needed to see through. Well, really, I needed to see it through from the first chapter when Cinder met Kai and my hopeless romantic heart swooned.
Enter book 2, Scarlet, and I LOVED Scarlet. I think it’s still my favorite of all 4 books. After my re-read of Cinder, followed by Scarlet, the Lunar Chronicles books became a favorite series. I pre-ordered books. Re-read each previous book to be ready for the next, and bought Winter the day it released… in November 2015.
So, yes, I’m celebrating that I finally read all 824 pages.
PS. There are two Novella type books that accompany the series. Fairest is the story of the Evil Queen Levana. And Stars Above came after. It’s almost to the top of my TBR list… the list that never actually rotates, just accumulates 🙂
Have you read it? Which couple was your favorite, because, of course, I have mine.
